What do you find most important when renting a vacation home from an owner/company you haven’t used before? What had convinced you in the past to choose one vacation home over another?

Usually in this order:
Cleanliness - Is it clean?
Size - as in how many beds are needed.
Closeness to desired locations - beach, bars etc
Cost - Am I on a budget?
Facilities - Bath or just shower? TV? Mini bar, kitchenette? etc

one that allows pets is always a winner!
I live in New Zealand and we take our pet cockatiel with us on holiday if we can so its great to find holiday homes that allow us to do this.
facilties: bath, good heating,
location and views, having a deck and BBQ is always a bonus. the next place we are staying at has a spa pool! thats an absolute winner
and of course price is somewhat important

that is all.

I make sure they have nothing to do with any travel club scams, vacation ownership scams or time share scams by researching them really well on line. Look for reviews on line and Google specific names to what comes up.
