Man the answers you got were terrible. Go to Luperon, Punta Rucia, Sosua, Cabarete Cabrera, Las Terenas, Samana, Jarabacoa, Costanza, Bayahibi, La Romana, Santo Domingo.
Heck I could go on and on but don’t go to Punta Cana unless you like boring all inclusives in a town that doesn’t have a town nor any culture whatsoever. So if you want to go to an all inclusive and not leave the property because they tell you the country is dangerous so they can sell you there cheesy overprice tours go right ahead. If you want to experience the most beautiful country/Island I have ever seen take my advice. I listed beach, mountain and inbetween places that beat the hell out of Punta Cana.
Enjoy this beautiful place and experience it. No need to travel this far to stay in an all inclusive. Find one closer to home.

PUNTA CANA! I went to punta cana over spring break and it was absolutely georgous. I suggest any of the riu resorts there. some friends of mine went a year ago to the riu palace maccao and thought it was faublous. I stayed at the Bavaro Catalonia Beach resort, the resort was really pretty and very relaxing but the food was horrible(as often is with an all inclusive) except the chinese and the crepe shop. The beach there was amazing to lay out all day or stay by the pool. I also heard from people on the airplane that the Barcelo chain of resorts was very nice. Also if you go you should really go on this day tour called outback safari, it was the only thing i did off the resort but it was so much fun ad you learn a lot about the culture and go into the mountains plus try a bunch of different foods and drinks like mama juana, their hot chocolate and sugar cane, and then you boogie board at the end, its so much fun and the guides tell really stupidjokes but their hilarious anyway. Anyway have fun on your trip!

It really depends on what kind of experience you are looking for. Undoubtedly you want nice beaches. If you are a more independent, adventurous and experienced travel, go to the North Coast and Samana Peninsula. If you want to relax, not worry about planning and like resorts, go to Punta Cana. If you want a unique, cultural DR experience and have Spanish skills, check out the Southwest-Bahia de la Aguilas, los Patos, Lago Enriquillo…you could even cross into Haiti.

If you like the beach you can go to the East part of the Country, this is where Punta Cana, Higuey Isla Saona, La Romana are located, I totally recommend you to visit Isla Saona, tell them to take you to La piscina natural = Natural pool in the middle of the sea BEAUTIFUL! if you like history you have to do to the capital of the country Santo Domingo, they have beaches too, but in the outsides.. Hope i helped =)

The Bavaro Princess Resort in Punta Cana was a good price and a great time with lots of different choices of restaurants. It also all-inclusive which is a plus. But, I wouldn’t go in the dead of summer. It’s very humid and lots of bugs. But it had a great beach and nice rooms. Just google Bavaro Princess and you’ll get some good info.

If you want to stay on the beach/bar/pool go to Punta Cana.
If you want something more and a lot to do and to see go to Puerto Plata.
