What’s The Difference Between Single Trip Travel Insurance And Backpacker Travel Insurance?

am going to LA for 3 months….not backpacking…but it seems to be cheaper (insurancewise)….what’s the difference between single trip and backpacker???? and why the price difference???
what should i do?

I’ve used STA backpacker cover several times. The main differences between that and my current policy are things like repatriation, upper limit of cover( that doesn’t change for emergencies) but does affect post op treatment.
Also single trip insurance can be quite restricting. the student policies can be for as much as 24 months.

The main differencebetween backpacker and standard travel insurance is that cancellation cover is substantially less and that cover for personal posessions is also reduced. Similalry other policy benefits are removed or reduced in cover.
If all you want is medical cover then there should be no problem with a backpacker policy. (Assuming you qualify re age – most are for under 35s)
