There are HEAPS of backpacker options in Perth!
First of all, choose your suburb – my top suggestions are:
Perth CBD – easy access to “shopping” and public transport. But Perth CBD is tiny, a little boring, and is not the attraction of Perth.
Northbridge – party area, this is where you go if you want to go drinking every night and stumble home. http://www.tripbackpack.com/” target=”_blank”>backpackers are a dime a dozen here. I can recommend Underground backpackers.
Fremantle – more laid-back atmosphere, still many bars, markets, musicians, cafe vibe. connected to Perth via the trainline
Cottesloe – Perth’s best beach (in my opinion) and there’s two awesome backpackers there – Ocean Beach Hotel and Cottesloe Beach Hotel. I think rates at CBH start from about A$26/night. They’re not available to non-Perth aussies anymore either, so you need to be from overseas to stay there.
You prob wont find any cheaper than $15/night, unless you’re enquiring about weekly rates. But I’d be aiming for the $20-25 per bed per night. There are many places with mixed dorms, not sure how many are single-sex dorms. All the places should have this information on their websites.

I checked out two hostels, rates approx. AU€20 – 25, and they also quoted single-sex dorms.
There were lots of other links, you can check them yourself
