Do You Have To Be A Backpacker To Stay At A Hostel?
by James on Aug.22, 2009, under Around the World
I am interested in traveling through Europe, but not backpacking. Just sight-seeing. Do you have to be a backpacker to stay in a hostel? I didn’t know if that was an unwritten rule or something. If so, any ideas where I can stay for cheap if I just want to travel? I’d love to stay at a five star hotel but as a college student, I can’t really say that I can afford it.
If you know what I mean. Thank you so much!

Not at all. My husband and I have stayed at hostels in Amsterdam and in the US. You don’t have to be a backpacker. We enjoy staying at the ones that let you use the kitchen facilities because my husband loves to cook for a crowd.

However if you enjoy privacy and aren’t totally broke there are plenty of cheap hotels there that aren’t much more than hostels and offer a better experience IMHO. Depends on when and where you go though.
