Australia is cheap as far as backpacker lodges and budget accommodation is concerned. Food is also reasonably priced and costs much lower than in Europe. Transport however is expensive. Considering the destinations you plan to visit, it appears you’ll end up spending a small fortune on train, air or bus tickets. Remember, Australia is a continent and a huge country. So, distances between cities is really large.
