this one in v ok location….Causeway Bay. it’s like Ginza in Japan…heart of entertainment + shopping. or else, u should choose a hostel in Tsim Sha Tsui. both districts r like never stop even nite time. really c ur budget. n yes we do hv MRT….we called it MTR. here’s the routing map.http://www.mtr.com.hk/eng/train/system_m…
so….4 sightseeing + shopping. u sh goto the giant buddha which attached w/ a cabe car. http://www.np360.com.hk/html/eng/front/i…
on the same day….after buddha. u may also visit the only outlet mall in HK = Citygate as they r just in the same location. o/w it’s quite far 4 u to go again at that district called Tung Chung. anyway, going to Tung Chung not that bad……u can just MTR there to the Tung Chung terminal. http://www.citygateoutlets.com.hk/home/P…
4 other budget + local shopping……u sh goto the famous Ladies Market in Mongkok. also easy access by MTR. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ladies'_Str…
they opened after 2-3pm til midnite…… dun go 2 early as stalls not 100% open yet.
everywhere wil be on x’mas sale by that time…. shops wil not close even 1Jan.

Go to Aberdeen, the once fishing village, see the Chinese restaurant on a boat called the JUMBO. Visit Ocean Park, Disney, wax musuem. Take the famous Star Ferry and stroll along the Kowloon side Ferry Pier to Tsimshatsui East harbour front corridor, then crossing the main road, Chatham Road, cutting through the side streets until you’re on Nathan Road. You could walk along Nathan Road until you’re in Temple Street of Yaumatei, the famous evening street vendors which opens from around 6 PM until 1-2 AM. Take various buses and trains to the New Territories, Tai Po District, Yuen Long District, Fan Ling District, Shatin, etc. These satellite towns are not as packed as the downtown core of Tsimshatsui, Mongkok, and Causeway Bay. Take a ferry from the Central Pier to Silvermine Bay of the Lantau Island, here it’s another quiet village which is so different from the rest of Hong Kong.

Welcome to Hong Kong! There’re many hostels in the Causeway Bay, Mongkok and Tsimshatsui districts. It’s around HK$120 – 300 per night depending on date, location and any private bathroom.
Tsimshatsui is most convenient to major shoppings, transportation and museums but there’re a lot of illegal immigrants from Africa and S Asia living in those places esp the popular ChunKing Mansion. The hostels in Causeway Bay dont have those illegal immigrants.
There’re so many to see and do in Hong Kong, apart from those suggested above, take the MTR (subway) to Choi Hung Station, then transfer to a bus there to Sai Kung, the Seafood Street where you can pick your own life seafood, cook it in any way you want and enjoying it by the sea.
Sai Kung is full of nature and scenery. You could also try walking the Maclehose Trail which streches from the East of the New Territories to the West, it’ll take over a week to finish walking the entire trail. If you dont plan to finish the whole trail, just know where the exits are and be sure to bring a mobile and some friends with you just in case.
Another interesting trail is the one up in the Peak which will take you all the way to Aberdeen, the south of the HK Island.

Not too sure about hostel / guesthouses but staying in the areas of Mongkok, Yau Ma Tei and Tsim Sha Tsui would be convenient as there are a lot of things there, e.g. Shops, eating places, night markets (Ladies Market, Temple Street Night Market).
You can go to the end of Tsim Sha Tsui near the harbour to see the avenue of stars, skyline of hong kong itself, go up victoria peak, party at Lan Kwai Fong.
Yeah they have an underground MTR train network. Fast and efficient.

3 have mass transit underground, and the old rail system from kowloon to the border, also worth a trip, there is so much to do ,by a guide book now and plan so as not to waste time, ping cha(not peng) in the tollo harbour is really different, but only ferries sat/sun holidays stunning and quite.or try tap mun were there is a small shop resurant.from here you can rejoin the ferry back to sai kung, then bus to mtr station,or get off at remote sam chung return by ferry or plan a walk back to sai kung, but thats quite a treck, just some thing different.these ferres go from near university station, times are http://www.traway.com.hk/routes.html. great mall in sha tib,and monestry. try lantau, silvermine and the beach at chung sha, plus the usuall stuff, you really need years enjoy
