dialga626-Check out “polar bear facts”"Females usually dig dens in snowdrifts on southerly facing slopes, most dens are on land, within 16 km of the coast. In some areas, dens are more than 100 km from the coast. A few polar bears make dens on the sea ice”Walrus and seal would come to land to give birth if there’s no ice. The polar bear would, if anything, have greater opportunity to feed if seals and walrus had no snow/ice for cover for their young.

ts not all about food mate, they need a place to hibernate and look after their cubs, which the ice provides. The walruses and seals are usually too far out to sea for the polar bear to reach them. Global warming threatens not just polar bears but all organisms. This bear was just lucky.
