James Dean did say that. He was not strictly gay though, as the love of his life was a woman. Sadly she was married off to someone else and it broke his heart but she was a woman. But yes, he did say that and many people have suggested he was bisexual and in relationships with men as well. It really doesn’t matter though whether he was or not and people should stop debating this. He’s no longer living and it doesn’t change his talent or impact on film history either way.

To me, Newman seems more responsive (maybe even unsure and a little nervous) around Dean, than Dean does around Newman. Newman looks quietly at Dean when Jimmy swears, and he is also the first to laugh out loud when they turn to look at each other. Jimmy just seemed to have such a strong effect on everyone!!!Love James Dean!

numerous people -close to james dean, people who worked with him- have gone on record saying that he was homosexual and a few men have come forward claiming to have been in a relationship with him. it’s certainly true that he was involved with both men and women and close to the ‘gay circle’ in hollywood. when asked about his sexual orientation he said ‘Well, I’m certainly not going through life with one hand tied behind my back’. keep in mind he was only a star for a short while before he died-

-and as such the high number of people claiming he was gay is significant although he never confirmed that he was gay. i don’t get why people get so mad when people say he was gay. being homosexual is not a ‘truly ugly thing’ as you said.
